Christmas Time

By Sylvie

Christmas is a very special time of the year. It brings happiness to a lot of humankind. When I say a lot I mean most people celebrate it but some people don’t.

Some people celabrate Christmas differently. I’m going to tell you how you do it in New Zealand.

TRADITIONS

Traditions are a very big part of Christmas. A tradition is something that has been done the same way for a long time like putting up a Christmas tree or giving things. On Christmas night Santa Claus comes and gives presents to all the kids and leaves them under their Christmas tree or Carolling singing songs. There are also Christmas colours that are red and green and gold and sometimes silver too. You sometimes wear these Colours as well You can also go on a holiday with your friends and family. It’s summer in Christmas in New Zealand so it’s sunny.

DECORATIONS

A lot of people decorate their house at Christmas time with for instance you can put up Christmas trees (like small mini pine trees) and hang ornaments on it like all ball balls a mini Santa Claus,a mini Christmas tree, snowflakes, lights (fairy lights),tinsel (tinsel is like spikey long stuff),you can hang up stockings under your chimney and a lot of people decorate their doors with wreath, stars, mistletoe and lots of other cool things.  You also put Christmas crackers on the table which is usually set nicely with yet more tinsel and perhaps a pretty table cloth.

FOOD

At Christmas or any celebration really you get treats but at Christmas there is chocolate fruit cake, ham or a steak you can also have a salad or a stew. A pudding might be there too.

If you read this story correctly you would know that Christmas is completely and utterly amazingly fun.
